Here are some of our most frequently asked questions about Delay Her Spay:

Q: Will using the Delay Her Spay PABS chastity belt hurt my female dog in heat?

A: Not at all. The Delay Her Spay pet breeding-protection harness works like a chastity belt and is completely humane. It straps on like any harness using an eight-point buckle system, which is adjustable and ensures a comfortable fit. Once she is properly fitted, she can run, play, work, and enjoy her life as a dog, and you will be worry-free.

Q: Can my dog relieve herself while she is wearing the Delay the Spay harness?

A: Yes. PABS has designed the mesh covering her rear in a heart shape, not just for the tail to pass through, but also to allow her to defecate over the top. If your in-season dog needs to urinate, the urine will pass through the mesh. When you remove the Delay Her Spay harness, use a little soap and water to clean the mesh. Q: Is the Delay Her Spay harness reusable for more than one heat cycle?

A: Yes. PABS has manufactured the Delay Her Spay pet breeding-prevention harness of a sturdy webbing and polypropylene mesh, which ensures the system is reusable for a couple of heat cycles. In between your female dog’s heat cycles, we suggest you store the Delay Her Spay harness out of your dog’s reach. Not only will your female bite at a used PABS chastity belt, but so will a male dog that smells your female’s heat on the previously worn harness.

Q: Can a male dog bite off the Delay Her Spay chastity belt harness?

A: Good news! A male dog will not bite at a PABS Delay Her Spay harness! However, the female dog may nip at the chastity belt if she is uncomfortable wearing it. Make sure you properly fit the harness so she can move about freely while she plays. For added assurance, WE STRONGLY SUGGEST fitting her with a medical collar, such as a cervical or Elizabethan collar, until she becomes accustomed to wearing it. This is especially true if you have a high-energy dog.

In between your female dog’s heat cycles, we suggest you store the PABS Delay Her Spay harness out of reach. Not only will your female dog bite at a used chastity belt harness, but a male dog that smells your female’s heat on the previously worn system will also.

Q: Can I use the PABS Delay Her Spay harness for more than one of my dogs?

A: We do not recommend you use the same Delay Her Spay harness on more than one female in heat. Dogs are extremely motivated by scent, and a PABS Delay Her Spay harness worn by another dog during a heat cycle will continue to have that dog’s scent attached to it. Any other dog will resist a system with residual odors and bite at it.

In between your dog’s heat cycles, we recommend you store the PABS Delay Her Spay chastity belt harness out of your dog’s reach. Not only will your female bite at a used system, but a male dog that smells a female’s residual heat fluids or odors on a previously worn harness, will also.

Q: Are the PABS™ Sani-T™ Pads reusable?

A: Yes. The PABS Sani-T Pads dog diapers are washable and reusable. We suggest washing the pads with a sensitive-skin detergent. Using bleach works extremely well, but be sure to rinse thoroughly. See our blog on a optimal way to wash sanitary pads to keep them stain fee!

Q: How many Sani-T Pads should I order?

A: The PABS Sani-T Pads dog diapers are washable and reusable. The number of pads you order for a dog in heat depends upon whether your dog is a light, moderate, or extreme bleeder while she is in season. Large-breed dogs typically have more bloody discharge than small-breed dogs.

PABS Sani-T Pads are sold in three different bulk packs:

  • 4 Sani-T Pad Pack
  • 8 Sani-T Pad Pack
  • 12 Sani-T Pad Pack

If you are using Sani-T Pads for an incontinent dog, the number of pads you will need each day will depend on  how much she urinates each day. .

Q: My female dog is not yet in heat, should I order PABS now or wait?

A: You should order the PABS Delay Her Spay pet breeding-prevention harness and Sani-T Pads dog diapers prior to the onset of your dog’s heat cycle. In that way, you will be prepared when your dog comes in season (and the onset of her period). You can even put the Delay Her Spay harness on before the onset and so she can become accustomed to wearing it, as she would a collar.

If you have Sani-T Pads on hand when she comes in heat, you ensure the protection of your upholstery, flooring, and car seats.

If your dog’s heat cycle starts before you get chance to order the Delay Her Spay harness or Sani-T Pads refills, do not worry. We offer multiple shipping options so you can receive PABS’ products as quickly as you need them.

Q: Can I use the Sani-T Pads and Delay Her Spay harness to address incontinence issues in my older dog?

A: Absolutely! In fact, PABS has manufactured Sani-T Pads dog diapers to function better than conventional dog diapers, heat nappies, and heat pants currently on the market. With the Delay the Spay chastity belt harness, PABS’ products stays on, where others are easily removed. Always keep the Sani-T Pad in the rear pocket (near the mesh covering), if your dog has an uncontrollable bladder.

Q: Why do I have to use a medical (cervical or Elizabethan) collar with the Delay Her Spay chastity belt harness system?

A: When dogs are left alone, they can get bored and they may chew or bite at the thing nearest them. This is especially true with working dogs bred to use their mouths. The medical/cervical collar will deter biting, ensuring your incontinent dog or dog in heat stays protected, and your PABS Delay Her Spay harness lasts longer. Consequently, WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND fitting her with a medical collar, such as a cervical or Elizabethan collar, until she becomes accustomed to wearing the chastity belt harness. This is especially true if you have a high-energy dog.
